The Rettenwender Family
We, the Rettenwender family, look back on a long tradition as hosts. In 1965 the parent house “Berghof” was established by Franz Rettenwender Senior as the first hospitality business in Sankt Johann-Alpendorf. In 2016, the second operation the B&B Hotel “DIE BERGQUELLE” at the Achterjet in Flachau was opened by Franz Rettenwender jun. in the third generation.
Under dynamic, young leadership, the house exudes cordiality, liveliness and a family feel-good atmosphere. It is our special concern to take time for our guests, to pamper you with small amenities and to prepare you an unforgettable holiday. Enjoy the innumerable advantages in winter right on the slopes at the Achterjet Flachau and in summer the oasis of silence in the countryside of the Salzburger Land in Austria.

The surroundings around the four-star superior hotel in St. Johann in Salzburg offer plenty of recreational activities both in summer as well as winter. The Berghof is located on the slopes just a few metres away from the cable car to the Gernkogel and is therefore the perfect starting point for sport in the mountains of the Austrian state of Salzburg. Skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoe trekking, ski touring, hiking, golfing, biking… everything is possible here in Austria.
